Its strategy of assured retaliation, combined with “no first use,” provides adequate guarantee.

Deterrence stability is a military/technological relationship between nuclear and conventional forces that can reduce risk of nuclear war between potential enemies, but is mostly irrelevant between allies and non-enemies (e.g., U.S., France, Great Britain, India, Canada — it makes no difference whether U.S. could “beat” all four).   The range of nuclear deterrence strategies includes minimal or "limited" deterrence, massive retaliation with a force greater than that originally used by the aggressor, and mutual assured destruction ("MAD"). From RAND's Soviet-era work on game theory to today's current states of concern, such as North Korea and Iran, RAND has applied.

The first, inner layer of the triangle lists the three elements that must be present for a crime to occur, while the outer triangle represents the controllers that may intervene on behalf of each element to stop crime from occurring. The crime triangle is used to guide investigations of crime problems and identify potential solutions.   In India and Pakistan’s Strategic affairs, the key challenge to Deterrence Stability is India’s inexorable strategic aims. That negates the fragile stable situation and thus motivated Pakistan to modernize its Strategic Doctrine into the Full Spectrum Deterrence (Credible Minimum Deterrence) and successfully counter Indian threats from all the domains.
