William Otis Haliburton, a justice of the court of common pleas of Nova Scotia, by Lucy, eldest daughter of Major Grant, was born at Windsor, Nova Scotia, in December , and educated at the grammar school and at King's College in his native town. In this book, The Attaché; or, Sam Slick in England, Sam makes the following comment (Chapter 24): "I want you to see Peel, Stanley, Graham, Shiel, Russell, Macauley, Old Joe, and so on.
